Learning Analytics
Noorderpoort is experimenting with learning analytics with groups of online students, because online teaching needs online warning signals. We use a third party: Q-Sense, which offers algorithms to process the data we collect from the LMS and offers insight in the situation of individual students by using several dashboards. Teachers can decide if the perform interventions in the study process of individual students both based on the data shown on the dashboard and the individual situation of each student
We want to improve the individual study success of online students by using early warning signals without a heavy workload for the teachers.
We use AI technology to process the data collected in the LMS by using algorithms.
We are still in the process, but teachers already gave as a feedback on the experiment that they could improve the online tutoring because the systems gives them early warning systems in a very easy way.
Ensure that you comply with all legal requirements and privacy regulations. Create support among students by being as open as possible about what you do and why you do it.
Ensure support among lecturers and start with small experiments. Find a partner specialised in education technology who can help you design the algorithms and dashboards.
